David St. John6 Whitney (Henry5, Henry4, Henry3, John2, Henry1), son of Henry5 and Ruth (St. John) Whitney, was born 28 Mar 1805, Fairfield, VT, and died 22 Sept 1874, Sidney Center, NY, in his 70th year, of paralysis. He was buried at Sidney Center, NY.
He married, 3 Mar 1827, Sidney, NY, Lois Northrop, daughter of John and Elizabeth (Hines) Northrop. She was born Jan 1807, Sidney, NY, and died 9 Mar 1868, Sidney Center, NY, aged 61 years. She was buried at Sidney Center, NY.
He apparently married secondly, before 1870, Barbara (Fogus) Dumond. She was born 4 Jul 1820, NY, and died after 1870. She had married firstly, before 1843, William Dumond, of Franklin, NY, who had died 23 Sep 1866.
Phoenix says the following:
- "David St. John Whitney, b. at Fairfield, Vt., 28 March 1805; a blacksmith; married, 3 March 1827, at Sidney, N. Y., Lois Northrop, born at Sidney in Jan. 1807, dau. of John and Elizabeth (Hines) Northrop, of Rhode Island. They settled at Sidney Centre, and there died; she, 9 March 1868, aged 61 years; he, 22 Sept. 1874, of paralysis, in his 70th year. He was buried, 24 Sept., by the side of his wife, at Sidney Centre. He had been, for more than twenty years, a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church, and, much of the time, an acceptable class-leader."
