Edmund⁸ Whitney (Otis⁷, Aaron⁶, Nathan⁵, Nathan⁴, Thomas³, Thomas², John¹), son of Otis⁷ and Sarah (Edmunds) Whitney, was born 5 Nov 1818, Williston, VT. In his daughter Ellen's marriage, he is given the middle initial E.

He married firstly, 1 May 1839, Montpelier, VT, Esther Flagg.^[1] She was born 10 Sep 1820, and died 14 Jun 1862.

He married secondly, 29 May 1866, Charlotte, VT, Mary Elizabeth Seaton.^[2]

He is a farmer; resided Williston, VT.

Children of Edmund⁸ and Esther (Flagg) Whitney:

i.	Henry Otis9 Whitney, b. 26 Dec 1840; d. 1 Mar 1869 [Pierce] or possibly Mar 1870, Williston, VT, aged 50 years of consumption.[3] [The age in the record may be an error. - BRW]
ii.	William Flagg Whitney, b. 27 Oct 1842; m. Zeruah F. Brownell.
iii.	Ellen Josephine Whitney, b. 4 Jan 1845, Williston, VT; m. 10 Jan 1875, Williston, VT, Dr. Isaac D. Alger, son of I. S. and Priscilla C. (Lathrop) Alger;[4] res/ Minneapolis, MN. Children: a. Edmund Whitney Alger, b. Jun 1877.
iv.	Edmund Barton Whitney, b. 19 Jun 1848; m. Juliet Hood.
v.	Zenas Blinn Whitney, b. 25 Dec 1853; m. Alida Porter.
