Egbert⁸ Whitney (James⁷, Jeremiah⁶, Hezekiah⁵, Hezekiah⁴, Joseph³, John², Henry¹), son of James⁷ and Sally Ann (Coutant) Whitney, was born 17 Jul 1847, Esopus, NY, and died 1918, Omaha, NE.

He married, 23 Apr 1870, Newburgh, NY, Matilda Sammons Traver, daughter of Henry Edward and Frances Brewster (Dunn) Traver, of Eddyville, in Kingston, NY. She was born 6 Sept 1850, Kingston, NY, and died 1917.

Both were buried in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Omaha, NE.

He was a carpenter and joiner. They settled in Bedford precinct, NE; and afterward moved to Humboldt, NE, where they were living in Aug. 1874.
