Eli8 Whitney (Benjamin7, Eli6, Nathaniel5, Nathaniel4, Nathaniel3, John2, John1), son of Benjamin7 and Sybil (Blake) Whitney, was born 10 Jul 1812, Westborough, MA,[1] and died 16 Mar 1876, Nashua, NH. He was buried in Midland Cemetery, Westborough, MA.[2]

He married, 5 Mar 1847, Keene, NH, Sarah Jane Dickinson,[3] daughter of William and Roxsaland (Freeman) Dickinson. She was born 16 Aug 1824, Keene, NH, and died 2 June 1900, Nashua, NH.[4] She was buried in Midland Cemetery, Westborough, MA.[5]

According to Pierce, he died in Fitchburg, and his widow and daughter Louise, resided there in 1895.

Children of Eli8 and Sarah Jane (Dickinson) Whitney:

i. George Henry9 Whitney, b. 28 Dec 1850, Westborough, MA;[6] d. 28 Aug 1852, Westborough, MA, aged 2 years, of dysentery;[7] bur. Midland Cemetery, Westborough, MA.[8]
ii. Jane Elizabeth Whitney, b. -- Jul 1853 or 24 Jun 1853, Pittsfield, MA [given name omitted];[9] d. 15 Oct 1930, Nashua, NH; bur. Midland Cemetery, Westborough, MA;[10] unmarried.
iii. (prob. not) Louise Whitney, b. after 1855, for whom the only authority is Pierce (possibly an error for "Lizzie", same as ii above). Since in 1900 Sarah said that she had had only one child, and one living (Jane Elizabeth), Louise apparently never existed.
