Elias⁷ Whitney (Jeremiah⁶, Jeremiah⁵, Jeremiah⁴, Nathan³, John², Henry¹), son of Jeremiah⁶ and Susan (Resseguie) Whitney, born 1 Sep 1822, Tyrone, NY, died 9 Oct 1895, Troupsburg, PA.

He married firstly, 19 Jun 1850, Ulysses, PA, Laurette Short, daughter of Asa and Betsey (Burrell) Short. She was born about 1822, PA, and died 17 May 1875, Middlebury, PA.

He married secondly, before 1880, Anna Maria Stafford, daughter of Samuel and Julia Ann (Campbell) Stafford. She was born about 1852, PA, and died said 1882 (but a daughter was born 1888).

They resided Chatham, PA.

Phoenix says the following:

Elias Whitney, b. at Tyrone, N.Y., 1 Sept. 1822; a farmer; married at Ulysses, Penn., 19 June 1850, by Elder Bartlett, to Laurette Short, dau. of Asa and Betsey (Burrell) Short. They settled in Chatham, Penn.; and he was living there in Aug. 1876. She died at Middlebury, Penn., 17 May 1875."
