Family:Whitney, James (1811-1860)
James7 Whitney (Abel6, Elijah5, Elijah4, Isaiah3, Thomas2, John1), son of Abel6 and Phebe (Hopkins) Whitney, was born 12 Jan 1811, Williamstown, VT,[1] and died 25 Jul 1860, Williamstown, VT, aged 49 years 7 months 13 days.[2] He was buried in Williamstown Village Cemetery, Williamstown, VT.[3].
He married firstly, before 1841, Jerusha H. Smith, daughter of Josiah and Hannah (Morse) Smith. She was born about 1822, VT, and died 27 Aug 1875, Bristol, VT, aged 54 years.[4] She is buried with two sons in Greenwood Cemetery, Bristol, VT.[5]
He was a blacksmith.

Greenwood Cemetery, Bristol, VT.[7]
Notes
James appears in the 1870 census with his wife Jerusha, despite having died in 1860. No explanation is apparent for this discrepancy. His death record explicitly names his parents Abel and Phebe Whitney.
