James Gray8 Whitney (Freeman7, Enoch6, Moses5, Nathaniel4, Nathaniel3, Benjamin2, John1), son of Freeman7 and Mary S. (Gray) Whitney, was born 20 Dec 1822, Harrison, ME, and died 23 Jan 1905. Harrison, ME. He was buried in the Harrison Village Cemetery, Harrison, ME.[1]
He married, int. 21 Nov 1846. cert. 21 Dec 1846, 3 Jan 1847, Betsey H. Carsley, daughter of Seth and Asenath (Cummings) Carsley.[2] She was born 5 Jan 1825, Harrison, ME, and died 14 Dec 1894, Harrison, ME, aged 71 years 11 months 20 days, of valvular disease of heart.[3] She was buried in the Harrison Village Cemetery, Harrison, ME.[4]
Ne settled in town as a farmer. Mr. Whitney was a very intelligent and prosperous farmer, and prominent in church and civil affairs. He was one of the successors of the famous first board of deacons in the Free Baptist Church, which office he filled with strict fidelity to the honor and advancement of the church and its sacred interests.
He resided Harrison, ME, in the censuses of 1850 through 1900. He was a prosperous farmer and prominent citizen.
