James Harvey7 Whitney (Jonas6, Timothy5, Jonas4, Moses3, Richard2, John1), son of Jonas6 and Mary (Noble) Whitney, was born 23 Jul 1795, Otis, MA,[1] and died 11 Apr 1867, Homer, NY, aged 71 years. He was buried in Glenwood Cemetery, Homer, NY.[2]
Marriage intentions were published 20 Mar 1814, Otis, MA, for him and "Miss" Amanda Rogers, "both of Otis".[3] She was born about Apr 1797, and died 2 Aug 1814, Otis, MA, aged 17 years 3 months.[4]
He married secondly, 30 Nov 1815, Otis, MA, "Miss" Lydia Gates "of Otis".[5] She was born about 1799, CT, and died 7 Dec 1883, Homer NY, aged 84 years. She was buried in Glenwood Cemetery, Homer, NY.[6]
According to Pierce, he died without [surviving] issue, which is patently wrong.
He was listed on the U.S. IRS Tax Assessment Lists, in Homer, NY, in May 1863. He was then living at 422 Pacific St., Homer, NY. His income exceeded $600 per year. Valuation $300.00; Rate of tax, 3%; Class A; Number in abstract as classified, 32; Ad valorum duty, $9.00; Total tax due, $9.00.
