John⁶ Whitney (Samuel⁵, Samuel⁴, Richard³, John², Henry¹), son of Samuel⁵ and Rebecca (Banks) Whitney, was born say 1783, Greenfield, CT, and died about 1828.

He married, 21 Dec 1820, Greenfield, CT, Julia Ann Banks.

Phoenix says the following:

John Whitney, b. at Greenfield, Conn.; married, 21 Dec. 1820, at Greenfield, Julia Ann Banks. He had part of his father's estate, 14 Ap. 1821; and died about 1828.

i.	Samuel Banks Whitney, b. 3 Jul 1823, Weston, CT; m. Mary E. Doty.
