John Whitney, parentage unknown (but see Notes below), born say 1785, and died after 1825. No record of his death has been found.

He married, 17 Apr 1810, Winchendon, MA, Charlotte Prouty,[1] daughter of Isaac and Molly (Watson) Prouty. She was born 25 Mar 1791, Winchendon, MA. No record of her death has been found.

Children of John and Charlotte (Prouty) Whitney, probably incomplete:

i. John Whitney, b. ca. 14 Jul 1811, Winchendon, MA; m. Asenath Whitney Houghton.
ii. Stephen M. Whitney, b. ca. 1823, Boston, MA; m. Ellen Percy Cady.
iii. Ebenezer W. Whitney, b. ca. 1825-1826, Royalston, MA; m. Jane R. Clement.

Notes

It is possible that he was identical to John7 Whitney, son of Levi6 and Sarah (Lawrence) Whitney, born 26 Aug 1780, Ashburnham, MA. This theory is buttressed by the fact that a brother and one or two sisters lived in Royalston.
