Jonas6 Whitney (Jonas5, Jonas4, Moses3, Richard2, John1), son of Jonas5 and Zebudah (Davis) Whitney,[1] was born 3 May 1756, Harvard, MA,[2] and died 26 Nov 1803, Harvard, MA.[3]
He married (int. 2 Jul 1780), Harvard, MA, Relief6 Whitney,[4] daughter of Jonathan5 and Sarah (Holt) Whitney.[5] She was born 13 Nov 1758, Harvard, MA,[6] and died 17 Apr 1818, Harvard, MA, aged 59 years.[7]
He was a member of the company commanded by Capt. David Moore, from Bolton, in the Revolutionary war, and participated in the reoccupation of Rhode Island, 25 Oct 1779. On his return home the following year, 1780, he was elected one of the town comittee on correspondence and safety. In 1786 he was elected selectman. With four others he built the first acqueduct in Harvard, in Nov 1796, laying wood pipes to carry water to his residence from a spring near by. Jonas Whitney's widow's dower: She is appointed and authorized on oath to appraise all the real estate whereof Jonas Whitney, late of Harvard, deceased, left and to set off to the widow, Relief Whitney, her thirds, 4 Feb 1804. He resided Harvard, MA.
