Family:Whitney, Joshua (1714-1744)
Joshua4 Whitney (William3, Joshua2, John1), son of William3 and Lydia (Perham) Whitney,[1] was born 1 Nov 1714, Groton, MA,[2] and died between mid-April and 7 Oct 1744, Preston, CT.[3]
He married, before 1737, Anna (?Blodgett?).[4] If her name was Blodgett, it seems likely that she was the same as Anna Blodgett, daughter of Thomas and Mary (Druse) Blodgett,[5] born 9 May 1714, Chelmsford, MA.[6] Her date of death is unknown.[7] It seems probable that she remarried.
On 18 Nov 1739, Anna was admitted to communion with the First Church, Preston, CT.[8] Probably before that they had lived in Tolland, CT, where records of the births of their first three children are found.

3.^ He died after the conception of his youngest son Joshua, and before the baptism on 7 Oct 1744 of Asa, son of "Widow Whitney".
4.^ The date is an estimate based on the birth of his oldest child. Her name is given as Anna Blodgett by Pierce, but he is confusing the cousins named Joshua, of which one married Amy Blodgett. That makes her surname in doubt. If it wasn't Blodgett, then we have no idea what it might have been.
5.^ The only Anna Blodgett not otherwise accounted for who was approximately the right age seems to be the one mentioned.
