Joshua6 Whitney (Caleb5, Jonathan4, Richard3, Richard2, John1), son of Caleb5 and Annes (Church) Whitney, was born 18 Feb 1754, Harvard, MA,[1] and died 2 Jul 1812, Gardner, MA, aged 58 years.[2]

He married, 31 Nov [sic] 1781, Sterling, MA, Vashti Knight, "both of Sterling",[3] daughter of Ebenezer and Prudence (-----) Knight. She was born 23 Dec 1760, Lancaster, MA, and died 29 Oct 1832, Gardner, MA, aged 71 years 10 months.[4] Marriage intentions were published 23 Apr 1823, Gardner, MA, for her "Mrs." and Asa Roper "of Sterling".[5] She "of Gardner" married secondly, 17 Jun 1823, Westminster, MA, Asa Roper "of Sterling".[6]

He was a soldier in the Revolutionary War.

His widow petitioned the court for her third of the estate 20 Oct 1812. He resided Gardner, MA.
