Joshua Avery8 Whitney (Joseph7, Joshua6, Caleb5, Jonathan4, Richard3, Richard2, John1), son of Joseph7 and Nancy (Sawin) Whitney, was born 28 Feb 1814, Gardner, MA,[1] died 31 Jul 1899, Gardner, MA, aged 85 years 5 months 3 days, of cholera morbus.[2]
He married firstly, 29 Jun 1841, Westminster, MA, Mehitable C. Gibbs,[3] daughter of Paul and Anna (-----) Gibbs. She was born 27 Aug 1818, Whately, MA, and died 20 Apr 1863, Gardner, MA, aged 44 years 7 months 29 days, of childbirth.[4]
He married secondly, 9 Sep 1863, Nashua, NH, Elvira (Hildreth) Ross, daughter of Samuel and Mary (-----) Hildreth. She was born 9 Nov 1813, Westford, MA, and died 26 Sep 1890 [Pierce] or 24 Sep 1890, Gardner, MA, aged 76 years 10 months, of exhaustion from heart disease.[5]
