Leonard Lewis8 Whitney (James7, Jeremiah6, Hezekiah5, Hezekiah4, Joseph3, John2, Henry1), son of James7 and Sally Ann (Coutant) Whitney, was born 10 May 1827, Esopus, NY, and died 17 May 1889, New York, NY. He was buried in Wiltwyck Cemetery, Kingston, NY.[1]

He married firstly, 3 Dec 1846, Olive, NY, Mary Morgan, daughter of Elias and Rhoda (Molyneaux) Morgan. She died 1848, Olive, NY, without children.

He married secondly, after 1860, Elizabeth C. Elmendorf, widow of Oakley. She was born 10 Jul 1828, Ulster Co., NY, and died 18 Dec 1899, Queens, NY. She was buried in Wiltwyck Cemetery, Kingston, NY.[2]

He lived at 111 Pavonia Avenue, Jersey City, NJ, in 1873. Of Brooklyn, NY, in 1880.

Leonard Lewis8 and Mary (Morgan) Whitney had no children.

Two children are listed on the same gravestone as Leonard and Elizabeth. If they were by Elizabeth, their marriage must have been before 1851,

i. Carrie9 Whitney, b. 19 Apr 1851; d. 15 Nov 1861; bur. Wiltwyck Cemetery, Kingston, NY.[3]
ii. David J. Whitney, b. 9 Jun 1853; d. 9 Apr 1863; bur. Wiltwyck Cemetery, Kingston, NY.[4]
