Family:Whitney, Nathan (1765-1851)
Nathan6 Whitney (Nathan5, David4, Benjamin3, John2, John1), son of Nathan5 and Tabitha (Merriam) Whitney, was born 1 Jul 1765, Westminster, MA,[1] and died 14 Feb 1851, Westminster, MA, aged 86 years 7 months 14 days, of gravel.[2]
He married, 30 Nov 1786, Westminster, MA, Eunice Puffer, daughter of Josiah and Mary (Read) Puffer.[3] She was born 2 Aug 1767, Westminster, MA, and died 24 Feb 1846, Westminster, MA, aged 78 years 6 months 19 days, of influenza.[4]
In 1793 he bought of Samuel Gerrish the greater part of lot No. 4, bounding east and south on Bacon and Main streets, Central Village, and ever after resided thereon. He was an upright, honorable, and trustworthy citizen. He held the office of town treasurer from 1810 to 1830, discharging the duties of his office with conscientious fidelity. About the latter date, however, he experienced great financial embarrassment and loss by a business disaster, in which others of his fellow-townsmen, as well as himself, were seriously involved. He bore his misfortune, however, with creditable patience, and maintained his good name and Christian standing to the end of his life. He resided Westminster, MA.
Heywood says the following:[5]
