Nathan8 Whitney (William7, Nathan6, Nathan5, Thomas4, Eleazer3, Thomas2, John1), son of William7 and Jenny (Whitmore) Whitney, was born 11 Nov 1821, Seneca Co., OH, and died 18 Nov 1886, Muskegon Co., MI.
- "Representative from Muskegon County, 1875-6. Was born in Huron County, O., Nov. 11, 1821, removed to Michigan in 1849, and settled in Sparta, Kent County. In 1854 he removed to Muskegon County. He received a common school education. He was Supervisor of Casnovia for sixteen years. In politics he was a Democrat.[1]
He married firstly, 12 Sep 1844, Matilda Chambers. She was born about 1813, NY, and died 1857.
He married secondly, 4 Mar 1860, Louisa Henry. She was born Sep 1829, NY, and died after 1900.

Notes
There is another Oscar Whitney, born in Belvidere, Boone Co., IL, about the same age as the above Oscar, with a mother Matilda (Caswell), born in New York, about the same age as the above Matilda. His father was Aaron Whitney, not Nathan, who died in 1854, Belvidere, IL. Later his mother moved to Saginaw, MI, where the two of them were living in 1870 and 1880. His ancestry is unknown.
