Robert Francis⁸ Whitney (Anson Shay⁷, (Nathan⁶, Benjamin⁵, Daniel⁴, Henry³, John², Henry¹), son of Anson Shay⁷ and Mary Jane (McMurphy) Whitney, was born 22 Jan 1836, Batavia, NY, and died 13 Mar 1890, Morenci, MI. He was buried in Oak Grove Cemetery, Morenci, MI.^[1]

He married, 20 Feb 1865, Morenci, MI, Mary Ann Goodremont, daughter of Lewis Goodremont. She was born about 1839, Hartland, NY, and died after 1900.

He was a miller. They were living at Norvell, MI, in Dec 1874.

He served as Sergeant, 28th NY Infantry, in the Civil War, from 9 May 1861 to 2 Jun 1863.
