Family:Whitney, Silas (1771-a1855)
Silas6 Whitney (Joshua5, Joshua4, Joshua3, Benjamin2, John1), son of Joshua5 and Jemima (Clark) Whitney,[1] was born 20 Mar 1771, Medway, MA,[2] died after 1855, and is buried Temple Hill Cemetery, Geneseo, NY.
He married firstly, 16 Mar 1791, Medway, MA Tryphena Lane,[3] daughter of Zephaniah and Hannah (Pond) Lane. She was born 1 May 1766, Wrentham, MA, and died 22 Jan 1836, and is buried Temple Hill Cemetery, Geneseo, New York.[4]
He married secondly, Huldah (Tilden) Pease, daughter of Thomas Turner and Martha (Stillman) Tilden. She was born 10 Mar 1775, Sandisfield, MA, and died 4 Oct 1846, Rochester, New York.[5] She had married firstly, 21 Apr 1793, Sandisfield, MA, Henry Pease (c1771-1827), of Sandisfield, MA, and Livonia, NY.[6]
He married thirdly, after 1845, Electa (Hawks) DeForest, daughter of Eleazer and Anna (Stebbins) Hawks. She was born 10 Apr 1790, Conway, MA, and died 1855, Geneseo, NY. She had married firstly, Alonzo DeForest (1781-1845), as his second wife. She resided with Silas in Geneseo in 1850.[7]
In 1795, Silas came to Ontario County, NY from Medway, MA. In 1796 he was in Ontario County at Pittstown (now Honeoye), and later in Bristol, NY. He came to Geneseo, NY.[8]
In 1855, Silas was 85 yrs old and lived in son Simeon's home.[9]

Simeon L. Whitney, b. 7 Jul 1802;[14] m.(1) Mary Temperance Alexander; m.(2) Sarah M. -----. v. (son) Whitney, b. ca. 1804-1810. Enumerated with the family on the 1820 census.[15] vi.
