Sylvanus7 Whitney (Henry Platt6, Sylvanus5, Eliasaph4, Nathan3, John2, Henry1), son of Henry Platt6 and Mary (Brundage) Whitney, was born 24 Mar 1817, Lancaster, near Carleton, NB, and died 13 Feb 1888, Jamestown, ND.
He married firstly, 3 Feb 1836, Hall's Harbor, NS, Elmira Parker, daughter of Thomas and Nancy (Myers) Parker. She was born 27 Apr 1816, Passamaquoddy, NB, and died 11 Jul 1854, St. John, NB.
He married secondly, 22 Aug 1855, Alice Jane Bowles, daughter of William and Prudence (Rockwell) Bowles. She was born 8 Dec 1820, Centreville, NS, and died 1 Aug 1906.
Phoenix says the following:
- ". . . a merchant . . . . He dwelt at Hall's Harbor in Jan 1874, and had lived there continuously since 17 Oct 1834, except five months, Ap. to Aug. 1854, at St. John. "
