James Frederick⁸ Whitney (Sylvanus⁷, Henry Platt⁶, Sylvanus⁵, Eliasaph⁴, Nathan³, John², Henry¹), son of Sylvanus⁷ and Elmira (Parker) Whitney, was born 11 Oct 1848, and died 14 Mar 1934, Vernon Mills or Halls Harbor, NS.

He married, 12 Feb 1876, Billtown, NS, Eunice Roxana Alley. She was born about 1853, NS, and died after 1881.
