Walter Whitney, (WalterA, TheophilusB), son of WalterA and Sarah (Rosser) Whitney, born circa 1803, Llanelly, Breconshire, Wales, and died 15 May 1894, Todd, PA.[1]

He married, 29 Oct 1825, Llanelly, Breconshire, Wales, Leah1 Edmunds. She was born about 1806, Aberystruth, Monmouthshire, Wales, and died after 1880.

In 1841 they resided at "Troada Rhew" where he was listed as a miner.

In 1851 they resided at "Pentwyn Mawr" where he was listed as a coal miner & beerhouse keeper.

Unauthenticated family sources state:

He was older than William and went to America in the summer of 1867. He took with him his wife Leah and children Walter, Sarah, Mary and Leah. Walter had with him a wife and 3 children, Sarah, who was a widow of ----- Price had her 2 children, Mary and her husband ---- Griffiths had their 2 children, and Leah and her husband ----- Watkins had a child, making 21 people in the party that emigrated together. They all settled in PA.

I have found no record of Walter in America.

Passenger list of the S.S. United Kingdom, from Glasgow to New York, arriving 5 Jun 1866:

Walter Whitney, 24, male, none, Ireland, United States, steerage
Leah Whitney, 63, female, wife, Ireland, United States, steerage

These appear to be Leah (Edmunds) Whitney and her son Walter, below, although Walter's age is off. and they were from Wales, not Ireland.
