William Alexander⁷ Whitney (Lewis⁶, Josiah⁵, Jeremiah⁴, Nathan³, John², Henry¹), son of Lewis⁶ and Sarah (Kitchen) Whitney, was born 8 Aug 1822, Grimsby, Canada West, and died after 1900.

He married, 29 Oct 1845, Scotland, Canada West, Emily Malcolm, daughter of Eliakim and Semantha (Saxton) Malcolm. She was born 31 Oct 1827, Scotland, Canada West, and died after 1910.

Phoenix says the following:

"He settled in Scotland; went, in May 1861, to Geneva, Wisconsin; and moved thence, after five months, to West Union, Iowa, where he lived in 1873, a dealer in furniture and real estate."
