William Flanagan9 Whitney (Moses8, Ephraim7, Ephraim6, Nathaniel5, Nathaniel4, Nathaniel3, John2, John1), son of Moses8 and Susannah (Hall) Whitney, was born 17 Jan 1815, Upton, MA,[1] and died 26 Dec 1898, Upton, MA, aged 84 years, of paralysis, farmer.[2]
Marriage intentions were published 14 Feb 1841, Upton, MA, for him and Harriet N. Morse.[3] He married, 10 Nov 1840, Upton, MA, Harriett N. Morse, daughter of Ansel and Charlotte (Gage) Morse. She was born 24 Aug 1817, and died 27 Nov 1892, Upton, MA, aged 75 years 2 months 27 days, of dysentery.[4]
He was born on the old Ephraim Whitney farm in Upton, and passed his life following agricultural pursuits. He was a pleasant, social man. In the old house, which is still standing, can be seen the old-fashioned fireplace used for over a hundred years; resided Upton, MA.

Eli Harrison Whitney, b. 28 Oct 1847, Upton, MA;[9] m.(1) Elvira Jennie Stowe; m.(2) Mary Louise (Fiske) Oliver. iv. Clara Clementina Whitney, b. 16 Jan 1850; m. 8 May 1868, Upton, MA, Edward Arth Neale/O'Neil, b. ca. 1847, Boston, MA, son of Arthur & Julia (Longford) O'Neil.[10] Children: a. Nellie J. Neale/O'Neil, b. Feb 1870; went west.
