Family:Whitney, William Moore (1820-1862)
William Moore7 Whitney (Joel6, Joel5, Abel4, Nathaniel3, Benjamin2, John1), son of Joel6 and Anna (Moore) Whitney, was born 14 Dec 1820, St. Stephen, NB, and died said 15 Oct 1862 (but see below).
He married, about 1854, Mary E. Johnson, daughter of Friend and Phebe (Yale) Johnson. She was born 15 Jun 1830, Wallingford, CT, and died after 1901, CT.
On 31 Jan 1901, CT, Mary E. Whitney filed an application for a widow's pension based on William M. Whitney's service in Co. C, 28th Connecticut Infantry, and Co. F, 3rd Connecticut Infantry. The application number was 734,650, and the certificate number was 528,425.[1] There is a problem, however. The 28th Connecticut Infantry was organized at New Haven on 15 Nov 1862, a month after his reputed death date.
