William Wheeler⁸ Whitney (Nathan⁷, Timothy⁶, Thomas⁵, Thomas⁴, Eleazer³, Thomas², John¹), son of Nathan⁷ and Sina (Wheeler) Whitney, was born 12 Mar 1811, Athol, MA,^[1], and died 6 Sep 1887, Peru, VT, aged 76 years 6 months 23 days, of paralysis.^[2]

He married, before 1837, Persis H. Hapgood, daughter of Josiah and Elizabeth (Maynard) Hapgood. She was born about 12 Jul 1811, Peru, VT, and died 16 Feb 1877, Peru, VT, aged 65 years 6 months 23 days, of tumors.^[3]
