Family:Whitney, Willis E. (1848-1925)

Willis E.⁸ Whitney (Elias⁷, William E.⁶, John⁵, (poss.)Samuel⁴, John³, Benjamin², John¹), son of Elias⁷ and Clarissa (Huff) Whitney, was born 1848, IL, and died 1925, Tipton, NE.

He married firstly circa 1875, Mary Ella Glidden, daughter of John William and Mary (Blanchard) Glidden. She was born 13 Mar 1855, ME, and died 8 Mar 1928, El Paso Co., CO. They divorced circa 1888, Tipton, NE. She married secondly Darius Thomas Whitney and they removed to KS.

He married secondly, 1 May 1905, Lancaster Co., NE, Jennie Finney, parentage unknown. She was born 1863, IA, and died 1953, possibly Cass Co., NE. They had no children.

Marriage and divorce records have not been located for Willis and Mary Ella (Glidden) Whitney. This coupled with the fact that Mary married secondly an individual with the same surname of Whitney makes it difficult to identify with certainty the biological father of the children born surrounding the divorce. It assumed that Willis is the father of the children born in NE and the Darius Thomas is the father of the children born in KS.
