Addis Merrill Whitney, parentage unknown, was born 1862, Gouverneur, St. Lawrence Co., NY, and died 1935, Swampscott, MA.

He probably married, circa 1884 or 1885, Elsie B. Myers of Lincoln Co., SD. She married (2), by 1889, Isaac F. Smith.

In 1886 he graduated from Amherst.

Probable children of Addis Merrill and Elsie B. (Myers) Whitney:

i. (probably) Joe Whitney, b. 19 May 1885, SD. He was the step-son of Issac F. Smith and son of Elsie B. (Myers) (Whitney) Smith.
