Family:Whitney, Daniel (1814-1891)

Daniel⁹ Whitney (Amos⁸, Amos⁷, Ephraim⁶, Nathaniel⁵, Nathaniel⁴, Nathaniel³, John², John¹), son of Amos⁸ and Nancy (Warren) Whitney, was born 23 Oct 1814, Upton, MA,^[1] and died 6 Jul 1891.

He married, 3 Jan 1835, Upton, MA, Lovice R. Brown,^[2] daughter of Peter and Sarah (Cody) Brown. She was born 5 Oct 1817, or about 20 Sep 1815, Hopkinton, MA, and died 28 Jul 1901, Upton, MA, aged 85 years, 10 months 8 days, of valvular heart disease and old age.^[3]

iv.	Laura Eveline Whitney, b. Feb 1845; m.(1) 18 Dec 1867, Upton, MA, John L. Robbins;[5] m.(2) 4 Jan 1906, Fitchburg, MA, Robert Young, b. ca. 1850, Little Downham, England, son of Joseph and Rebecca (Bell) Young;[6] s.p.
v.	Jane Elizabeth Whitney, b. 27 Sep 1848; d. 12 Nov 1848, Upton, MA, aged 1 month 15 days.[7]
vi.	Daniel Whitney, b. 11 Oct 1859, Upton, MA.[8] Probably the same as Andrew below.
vii.	Andrew Rockwood Whitney, b. 31 Oct 1859. Upton, MA; d. 16 Jul 1877, Upton, MA, aged 17 years 8 months 16 days, of consumption.[9]

Notes

In her marriage record, on 16 Jun 1897, Hopedale (recorded in Upton), to Joseph Dipper, Bertha L. Whitney is given as aged 19, born in Upton, with parents Daniel and Lovica Brown Whitney.^[10] She was a boarder in Daniel's household in 1880, not a daughter, and she was far too young to be the daughter of this couple. Furthermore, her father is listed as born in Canada, her mother in MA. Her death record says she was born 10 Jan 1878, Upton, MA, and died 14 Nov 1910, Upton, MA, aged 32 years 10 months 4 days, of papillo-adenoma, parents unknown.^[11] She was buried in Lakeview Cemetery, Upton, MA.
