Eliakim S. Whitney (Hiram, Eli, James), son of Hiram and Anna (Fredenburgh) Whitney, was born 18 Jan 1858, Shandaken, NY, and died 30 Apr 1922, Kingston, NY.
He married, 18 Jun 1879, Kingston, NY, Jennie V. K. Beekman, daughter of Thomas and Nellie Catherine (Van Keuren) Beekman of Kingston, NY. She was born 7 Jun 1857, Kingston, NY, and died 27 Aug 1914, Kingston, NY.
In 1896, E. S. Whitney had charge of the Whitney business interests started by his father in Shandaken.[1]
He was a merchant and chair manufacturer, director of the National Ulster County Bank, of which he was the largest stockholder. He left an estate of approximately $100,000.
