Family:Whitney, Emily J. (c1837-a1880)

Emily J. Whitney (Benjamin), daughter of Benjamin and Caroline Elizabeth (Hall) Whitney, was born about 1837, Ontario County, NY, and died 28 Feb 1888, Batavia, Genesee County, NY.

She married, before 1862, Lorenzo W. Dunton, son of William and Judith (Slayton) Dunton. He died 19 Jan 1899, Willard, Seneca County, NY. He was brother of Chauncey Slayton Dunton, who married her sister Clarissa Elizabeth Whitney. He had married firstly, Minerva Ingraham, daughter of Benjamin and Almira (Wheeler) Ingraham. They must have been divorced between 1854 and 1859. She was born about 1827, Bristol, NY, and died 27 Apr 1888, Naples, NY. She was buried in the West River (Lee) Cemetery, Italy, NY. She married secondly before 1859, Stephen B. Gilbert.

He was a Whitney descendant, too: Lorenzo W. Dunton (Judith Slayton, Esther Watkins, Esther⁴ Whitney, Mark³, Benjamin², John¹).

They were living separately in 1880, but both are listed as "married".

v.	Hiram W. Dunton, b. ca. 1866, Manchester, NY; in 1899 he resided in Buffalo, Erie Co., NY. In December 1890 Hiram lost his right hand and lost the use of his left hand in an accident switching freight cars in Buffalo, NY.
vi.	Clark W. Dunton, b. ca. 1868, Manchester, NY; d. 24 Aug 1917 in Canandaigua, Ontario Co., NY.
