George J.8 Whitney (Jason W.7, Joshua6, Joshua5, Joshua4, Joshua3, Benjamin2, John1), son of Jason W.7 and Emily (Muzzy) Whitney, was born 22 May 1845, Medway, MA,[1] and died 30 Dec 1873, Brookfield, MA, aged 28 years 7 months 26 days, of typhoid fever.[2]

He married, 11 Nov 1862, Medway, MA, Carrie Maria Pond, daughter of Justin Eli and Polly Maria (Thurber) Pond.[3] She was born about 22 Sep 1844, Milford, MA, and died 9 Sep 1883, Medway, MA, aged 28 years 11 months 17 days, of Potts disease of spine.[4] She married secondly, 20 Sep 1876, Medway, MA, Clarence Adelbert Hixon.[5]

i. Laura G.9 Whitney, b. ca. 1863, Medway, MA; m. 28 Oct 1881, Holden, MA, or 27 Oct 1881, Worcester, MA, Joseph C. Vallandry, both of Worcester, b. ca. 1844, "on the sea", son of Alexander and Catherine (-----) Vallandry.[6]
ii. Henry Newman Whitney, b. 10 Nov 1867, Medway, MA;[7] m.(1) Mary J. O'Leary; m.(2) Edith F. Hodde.

Apparently the census taker conflated the records. The name of the step-granddaughter Laura was combined with the data for the daughter-in-law Carrie.
