James Gray8 Whitney (Freeman7, Enoch6, Moses5, Nathaniel4, Nathaniel3, Benjamin2, John1), son of Freeman7 and Mary S. (Gray) Whitney, was born 20 Dec 1822, Harrison, ME, d. 23 January 1905. He is buried in the Harrison Village Cemetery.
He married, 3 Jan 1847, Betsey H. Carsley. She was born 5 Jan 1825 or 1823, Harrison, ME, the dau. of Seth and Asenath (Cummings) Carsley.
He resided Harrison, ME in the censuses of 1850 through 1900. He was a prosperous farmer and prominent citizen.
Children of James G.8 and Betsey H. (Carsley) Whitney:
i. Charles Freeman9 Whitney, b. 10 Oct 1847 in Harrison, MEd. 18 February 1911 in Norway, ME; m. Sarah E. -----, and resided Harrison, ME. They had two known children: i. Cora B. Whitney, b. 1876, d. 1881 ii. Karl Eugene Whitney, b. September 1878, d. 1956
ii. Horace K. Whitney, b. 3 Oct 1849; m. 12 Jan 1885, Esther L. Tarbox, b. 16 May 1846; resided s. p. Olympia, WA. iii. Eleazer Plummer Whitney, b. 15 Feb 1851; m. 25 Sep 1876, Mary E. Dwyer, b. 22 Jan 1841; resided s. p. Green River, WA. For more information see Archives - Biographies.
