John Alfred⁷ Whitney (John⁶, Barnabas⁵, Isaac⁴, Nathaniel³, Benjamin², John¹), son of John⁶ and Martha (Butterfield) Whitney, was born 21 Jul 1830, prob. Freeman, ME, and died 26 Sep 1899, Farmington, ME.

He married 12 Oct 1854, Freeman, ME, Dorcas Ann Burbank, daughter of Jesse S. and Hannah (Ames) Burbank. She was born 7 Oct 1824, Freeman, ME, and died 1890, Farmington, ME.

John appears in the censuses of 1850 through 1880 in Freeman, ME, where he was a farmer. He and Dorcas probably spent their later years in Farmington, ME, where their daughter Nettie and family resided.

John and Dorcas are buried in the Riverside Cemetery, Farmington, ME.

John was a Civil War veteran, and he received a pension from the U.S. government.

They are buried in the Riverside Cemetery, Farmington, ME. Children: a. Alfred Whitney Heath, b. Jul 1888. b. John C. Heath, b. Dec 1894. c. Clifford Heath, b. Dec 1899.
