John Ingersol7 Whitney (Amasa6, John5, John4, Henry3, John2, Henry1), son of Amasa6 and Sarah (Chapin) Whitney, was born 13 Oct 1833, Antwerp, NY, and died 14 Mar 1864, Pitt's Hospital, Helena, AR, of smallpox, where he was buried.
He married 31 Dec 1854, Waterloo, WI, Lovina Crosby, daughter of John and Emily (Pearsall) Crosby. She was born 12 Apr 1834, Bainbridge, NY, and died after Mar 1875. She married secondly, 26 Aug 1869, Janesville, WI, George Washington Blanchard.
Phoenix says the following:
- ". . . a farmer . . . . They settled in Waterloo, where her parents resided. He died . . . while in the service of the government . . . . They were living at Waterloo in March 1875."
