Jonas Lovering Whitney (Otis), son of Otis and Mary (Lovering)(Puffer) Whitney, was born 30 Oct 1843, Stow, MA, and died 8 Jan 1913, Worcester, MA, aged 69 years 2 months 9 days, of post operative shock following prostatectomy.[1]

In some records, his given name is recorded as "Joseph" or "James".

He married firstly, 15 Jul 1864, Boston, MA, Inez Goodwin, daughter of Frederick E. and Elizabeth (-----) Goodwin.[2] She was born about 1846, Boston, MA.

He married secondly, Elizabeth Aldrich Smith, daughter of Thoret and Caroline (Gilbert) Smith. She was born 2 Feb 1843, Holden, MA, and died 2 Aug 1915, Worcester, MA, aged 72 years.[3]

iv. Albert Joseph Whitney, b. 22 Dec 1873, Holden, MA;[9] m. 23 Jun 1909, Wakefield, MA (also recorded at Worcester, MA), Flora Abbie Staples, b. ca. 1873, Wakefield, MA, dau. of Moses and Mary Adella (Parker) Staples.[10]
v. Mary Emma Whitney, b. 17 Aug 1875, MA, Holden, MA;[11] m. 4 Oct 1899, Holden, MA, Edwin F. Wilmot of Quincy, b. ca. 1864, New Brunswick, son of Malcom and Mary (Wertman) Wilmot.[12]
