Mariner Thompson7 Whitney (Marcus Fayette6, (Josiah Anson5, Richard4, Henry3, John2, Henry1),), son of Marcus Fayette6 and Mary Ann (Stayner) Whitney, was born 1 Jun 1825, Schenectady, NY, and died 18 Nov 1902, Port Jervis, NY. He was buried in Laurel Grove Cemetery, Port Jervis, NY.[1]

He married 25 Jun 1848, Marriage_place,[2] Ruhamah Wilcox Irwin, of Minisink, daughter of Abraham and Mary (Wilcox) Irwin. She was born about 1826, Orange Co., NY, and died 22 Jan 1890. She was buried in Laurel Grove Cemetery, Port Jervis, NY.[3]

Port Jervis Evening Gazette - Sept. 10, 1923:

"Marcus L. Whitney of No. 6 Jones street, a well known resident of this city died suddenly sometime during Saturday night or early Sunday morning while fulfilling his duties as Janitor and watchman at the National Bank. His lifeless body was found about nine o'clock Sunday evening by Galen B. Whitney, a brother, and John J. Duley, assistant cashier of the Bank.
"Deceased was 72 years of age, was born in Port Jervis and was the son of Mariner T. Whitney and Ruhamah Wilcox Irwin Whitney.

He was united in marriage with Miss Nelia Barker of Hawley. The death of Mrs. Whitney and their two children occurred several years ago. Mr. Whitney was a resident of Minneapolis Minn. for forty years. He had lived in this city about one year prior to his death. Surviving relatives are two brothers, Galen H. Whitney of this city and Eugene Whitney of Fulton, N. Y., two sisters, Mrs. J. W. Smith. of highland Mills and Miss Emma Whitney of New York."
