Silas Whitney (Charles), son of Charles and Polly (Heywood) Whitney, was born 1806, Hope, ME, and died 23 Jan 1876, Hope, ME, aged 66 years 10 months 18 days [sic].
He "of Hope" married, 10 Mar 1831, Belfast, ME, Lydia Jane Staples "of Belmont",[1] daughter of Luke Staples. She was born about 1809, ME, and died 26 June 1888, Hope, ME.
On 11 Feb 1842, Silas Whitney signed a petition as a resident of Hope, ME, against the setting off of the West part as a new town of Appleton, ME.[2]
Children of Silas and Lydia Jane (Staples) Whitney, if any, unknown, although the census of 1840 suggests a daughter born 1830-1835.
