Family:Whitney, Thomas (1765-a1830)

Thomas⁶ Whitney (David⁵, Nathan⁴, Nathaniel³, Benjamin², John¹), son of David⁵ and Rebecca (?Robinson?)(Edgecom) Whitney, was born 5 Oct 1765, Gorham, ME,^[1] and died after 1830.

He married, 2 Sep 1787, Orrington, ME, Anna Stubbs.^[2] Census records indicate that she was born before 1774, possibly about 1770. She may be the Anna Stubbs, daughter of James and Sarah (-----) Stubbs, born 8 Dec 1765, Wellfleet, MA.

This Thomas is placed as the Thomas Whitney of Hampden, ME, based on U.S. Census material. In 1790, Thomas and Daniel Whitney both reside in Frankfort, Hancock Co., ME. In 1800, Thomas has removed to Hampden and Daniel back to Gorham. In 1810, both live in Hampden. Also, in the Town Records of Hampden, ME, the family records of Thomas & Daniel Whitney appear on the same page. This could indicate close relationship.

Notes

One Thomas Whitney married, 9 Mar 1802, Bath, ME, Abial Starbird "of Topsham", daughter of John and Abial "Polley" (Ridley) Starbird. She was born 17 Feb 1785, Dover, NH. This wasn't this man, but his cousin Thomas G. Whitney.
