Thomas Peabody8 Whitney (Zimri7, John6, Zachariah5, John4, Joseph3, John2, John1), son of Zimri7 and Susanna (Sanderson) Whitney, was born 29 Aug 1816, Jaffrey, NH, and died 8 Apr 1887, Lynnfield, MA, aged 70 years 7 months, of hemorrhage and heart disease.[1]

He married, 26 Apr 1838, New Ipswich, NH, Harriet Augusta Benjamin,[2] daughter of Nahum and Judith (Reed) Benjamin. She was born 3 Oct 1819, Ashburnham, MA, and died 1 May 1901, Boston, MA, aged 81 years 6 months 9 days, of heart disease and old age.{{ref|3}

He was a farmer. He resided Jaffrey, NH, rear 7 Monument square, Charlestown, MA, and at Lynnfield, MA.

i. Charles Butterick9 Whitney, b. 18 Oct 1839; d. 6 Nov 1839, Lynn, MA, aged 19 days.[3]
ii. Lorenzo Peabody Whitney, b. 21 May 1841; m. Elizabeth Jane Foxwell.
iii. Susan Augusta Whitney, b. 20 Jul 1844; d. 9 Dec 1848, Lynn, MA, aged 4 years 4 months 20 days,[4] or Charlestown, MA, aged 4 years 5 days, of scarlet fever.[5]
iv. Thomas Duane Whitney, b. 10 Aug 1846 or 10 Aug 1847, Charlestown, MA;[6] d. 30 Dec 1848, or 29 Dec 1848, Charlestown, MA, aged 2 years 5 months, of scarlet fever.[7]
v. Elva Iantha Whitney, b. 4 Sep 1848, Charlestown, MA; m.(1) 4 Apr 1867, Lynn or Nahant, MA, James Franklin Gove, b. 19 Jan 1844, Lynn, MA, d. 10 Feb 1875, son of Nathan and Emeline E. (-----) Gove;[8] m.(2) ----- -----; divorced; m.(3) 9 Jun 1901, Everett, MA, Sidney H. Hatch, b. ca. 1841, Brookfield, VT, son of Homer and Sarah (Peck) Hatch.[9] Children:
a. Harriett Emeline Gove, b. 25 May 1868; m. 4 Sep 1884, ----- Ingalls; res. rear 7 Monument Sq., Charlestown, MA.
