William S.9 Whitney (Nathan8, Nathan7, Abijah6, Joseph5, John4, Joseph3, John2, John1), son of Nathan8 and Lydia (Viles) Whitney, was born 9 Nov 1849, Waltham, MA,[1] and died 10 Apr 1902, Waltham, MA, aged 52 years 4 months 15 days, of aphasia paralysis.[2]

He married, 31 Mar 1877, Waltham, MA, Laura Etta Adams, daughter of John M. and Laurietta (Goodwin) Adams.[3] She was born 24 Sep 1857, Waltham, MA, and died after 1884.

i. Arthur Nathan10 Whitney, b. 1 [VRs] or 22 [Bible] Apr 1878, Waltham, MA;[4] d. 9 Mar 1900, Waltham, MA, aged 21 years 10 months 9 days, of Bright's disease and organic heart disease; unmarried.[5]
ii. Louis Marshall Whitney, b. 4 May 1884, Waltham, MA;[6] d. 10 Sep 1884, Waltham, MA, of bronchitis, aged 4 months 6 days.[7]
iii. (son) Whitney, stillborn 7 Dec 1888, Waltham, MA.[8]
