Lakewood is the largest cemetery in Minneapolis and has a website with a search engine which gives names, ages, dates of death, and occasionally the location of death. There are 81 Whitney records, most of them are people who were born in the 1800's. Some of the information is confusing or makes no sense - not sure if it is transcription error or what. They show people buried in years before the cemetery existed (estab. 1872) and they give dates of burial that precede dates of death. Additionally - in their index they have names of individuals that I personally KNOW are not buried there, four of my own close family members. I have to find out why people are listed that are not buried there. All that said - I need to return to the cemetery soon to finish some photography so if anyone wants me to check on a particular person or photograph any of the following graves, please let me know.
