From: R R Kyser <sorryken -at- att.net> Subject: one more time-- "victory for WRG" Date: Sun, 21 Nov 2004 14:14:31 -0600 My Nov. 10th message seems to have gone straight to the Archive without going through the list. (However, I was on vacation down South the next eight days and reading my e-mail on a remote server, so perhaps everyone but me got it, in which case I apologize for the duplication.) The new father whom our WRG "angels" helped last month sent his thanks and an update, and I wanted to be sure they see it. The text is repeated below. Cheers, Ron Kyser Subject: victory for WRG Date: Wed, 10 Nov 2004 03:42:16 -0600 Eurobureaucrats are no match for the Whitney Research Group. The man who solicited my help (and got yours) last month just wrote back with the news, which I excerpt: "First of all, many and hearty thanks for your email and the assistance of the Whitney Research Group!  Second of all, please accept my apologies for taking so long to get back to you after your most thoughtful and helpful response to my inquiry.  With a 5 week old son, we have our hands full and are enjoying every minute of it.   "Your response, and particularly the existence of census data evidencing the use of Perkins as a first name, was very useful in the process.  Our skeptical court-appointed name expert was sufficiently persuaded to dig further into her materials in her research and, ultimately, came to the conclusion that Perkins means "little Peter" "maly Petr" in Czech, and that it had been used as a first name, and therefore its use as a middle name does not contravene the Czech Name Law (which prohibits the use of two last names).   "Nicholas Perkins Newbold now has his birth certificate along with a fancy court-appointed expert opinion stating the origins of Perkins and its use as a first name (with lots of fancy stamps on it)." Thanks and congratulations to all who helped for a job well done! The father sent a link to photos of the boy online. I'm hesitant to post it here without his permission, as our messages are archived and searchable. But if anyone wishes to see them, I'll ask the fellow if I can forward them.
