From: R R Kyser <sorryken -at- att.net> Subject: painter Lisa Whitney, fl. 1935 Date: Sun, 12 Dec 2004 02:00:46 -0600 Has anyone heard of this Lisa Whitney, of New Haven, who painted this in 1935?: <a href="http://www.artnet.com/ag/fineartdetail.asp?wid=137167">http://www.artnet.com/ag/fineartdetail.asp?wid=137167</a> The only other appearance online is at the site for the gallery, based in Nashville of all places: <a href="http://www.williamsamericanart.com/artists.html">http://www.williamsamericanart.com/artists.html</a> "Lisa" is a very unusual name for the period, leading me to think either it was short for "Elizabeth" or something similar, or she was a European who married a Whitney. (Then again, many name fads first show up a generation or so earlier in the upper classes; maybe she was a wellborn Lisa.) Cheers, Ron Kyser
