Theorized Resolution

Split Robert, husband of Elizabeth (daughter of Morgan ap William), apart from Robert, childless third son of Sir Robert! Make them two separate people, the latter a good deal younger than the former. That removes the two chronological impossibilities, and accounts for the terms of the will.

Then the pedigrees could be accurate except for that one misidentification error! Thomas Whitney of Westminster would, after all, be the son of Robert and Elizabeth, and brother of Nicholas, William, Richard, Margaret [Powell], and Ann [Robage].
