Richard5 Whitney (Richard5, Richard4, Henry3, John2, Henry1), son of Richard5 and Ruth (Wilson) Whitney, was born 16 Jul 1795, Paris, NY, and died after May 1874.

He married, 6 May 1819, Westmoreland, NY, Adeline Jones, daughter of Nehemiah and Anna (Pomeroy) Jones, of Westmoreland. She was born 25 Apr 1800, Westmoreland, NY, and died after May 1874.

Phoenix says the following:

. . . a farmer; . . . . They moved in Feb 1821, with his father, to Magnolia, in Chautauqua, NY, and were still living there in May 1874. He often held town-offices, was postmaster at Magnolia for twenty years, and a justice of the peace.

Adele Amanda7 Whitney, b. 31 Mar 1820, Westmoreland, NY; m. 8 Jun 1842, Magnolia, NY, William Chauncey Miller, son of John and Sarah (Seymour) Miller, of Harmony, NY, formerly of Paris, NY, where he was born 10 Jan 1816. A farmer; they settled in Harmony. He d. 17 Oct 1864, and was buried in Sherman, NY. She moved, in 1869, to Jamestown, NY, and dwelt there in Apr 1874.
ii. Clark Pomeroy Whitney, b. 26 Feb 1822, Magnolia, NY; m. Helen Westcott.
iii. Cornelia Whitney, b. 14 May 1824, Magnolia, NY; d. 18 Dec 1824, Magnolia, NY, and was bur. there.
iv. George Washington Whitney, b. 27 Jan 1828, Magnolia, NY; m. Hannah Dutton.
v. Charles Henry Whitney, b. 4 Mar 1830, Magnolia, NY; m. Mary Jane Rheubottom.
vi. Andrew Jackson Whitney, b. 11 Aug 1832, Magnolia, NY; d. 21 Feb 1858, Magnolia, NY; bur. there; m. bef. 1855, Jenett A. -----, b. ca. 1835, Chautauqua Co., NY.
vii. Elizabeth Ann Whitney, b. 11 Dec 1834, Magnolia, NY; m. 10 Nov 1861, Magnolia, NY, Stephen Emeigh Taylor, a farmer, son of John F. and Sally Ann (Losee) Taylor, of Half Moon, NY, where he was b. 30 Oct 1834. They settled in Harmony, NY, and dwelt there in 1880.
viii. Maria Cook Whitney, b. 19 Sep 1836, Magnolia, NY; m. 4 Oct. 1856, Magnolia, NY, Charles Wesley Flanders, son of Moses and Rhoda (Pratt) Flanders, of Harmony, NY; d. 4 June 1866, Magnolia, and was bur. there. He was living at Corry, PA, in Apr 1874.
ix. William Hawkins Whitney, b. 16 Mar 1839, Magnolia, NY; m. Helen Mar Copp.
