Joseph8 Whitney (Josiah7, Josiah6, Josiah5, Richard4, Richard3, Richard2, John1), son of Josiah7 and Sarah (Emes) Whitney, was born 25 Mar 1811.
He married, 23 Feb 1841, Mary Abbott Newcomb. She was born 27 Jan 1820.
He was born at Nelson, NH; is a farmer; has been superintendent of schools, town clerk and selectman; resided Sullivan, NH.
Children of Joseph8 and Mary Abbott (Newcomb) Whitney:
i. Ransel N.9 Whitney, b. 18 Mar 1842. ii. Laurette A. Whitney, b. 12 Dec 1847. iii. Scolley J. Whitney, b. 29 Sep 1853; d. 1 Jun 1856.
