John⁷ Whitney (Joshua⁶, Caleb⁵, Jonathan⁴, Richard³, Richard², John¹), son of Joshua⁶ and Vashti (Knight) Whitney, was born 21 Apr 1796, Gardner, MA.^[1]

He married, 6 Jul 1817, Gardner, MA, Rachel Holbrook Osgood.^[2] She was born circa 1798,^[3] died 7 Mar 1848, Dixborough, Washtenaw Co., MI.^[4] She was perhaps the daughter of Joseph and Rachel (Holbrook) Osgood, married 28 Nov 1792, Marlborough, Middlesex Co., MA.
