Daniel Ward8 Whitney (Emory7, Jacob6, Richard5, Richard4, Richard3, Richard2, John1), son of Emory7 and Lydia (Locke) Whitney, was born 18 Nov 1820, Watertown, MA, and died 11 Oct 1894, Turtle Point, PA.

He married firstly, 23 Feb 1852, Annin, PA, Sarah Ann Manning. She was born 20 Mar 1818, and died 17 Feb 1853.

He married secondly, 2 Jul 1854, Mary Ann (Henry) Ball. She was born 4 Feb 1834, and died 16 May 1866.

He was born in Watertown, MA, and went to Le Roy, NY, in the year 1835. When of age he learned the trade of carriage painting and worked at it until 1844; then went to Pennsylvania and bought a place at Newell Creek, but sold that a few years later; then bought the place he now lives on at Turtle Point, then a wilderness. He is a man of very strict habits; never drank a glass of liquor in his life. He never enjoyed very good health. At present (1893) he is helpless, he has had three paralytic shocks; also asthma and spasmodic bronchitis. He died 11 Oct 1894; resided Turtle Point, PA.
