Daniel Alpheus⁹ Whitney (Artemas⁸, Daniel⁷, Daniel⁶, Daniel⁵, Richard⁴, Richard³, Richard², John¹), son of Artemas⁸ and Lucy Jane (Pease) Whitney, was born 13 Jul 1849, Maynard, MA, and died 4 Jan 1945, Magnolia, IA. He was buried in Magnolia Cemetery, Magnolia, IA.^[1]

He married firstly, 31 Mar 1879, Walnut City, Adair Co., IA, or Cass Co., IA, Minnie Ethel Henry,^[2] daughter of Ralph and Sarah Alice (Foley) Henry. She was born 15 Jun 1859, Sevastopol, WI, and died 8 Mar 1889, Fonda, IA.

He married secondly, 9 Nov 1892, Rockwell City, IA, Jennie Mae Gates, daughter of Jo. and Elizabeth (Welch) Gates.^[3] She was born 3 Aug 1870, Shabbona, IL, and died 19 Apr 1949, Magnolia, IA.^[4]

They resided Fonda, IA.
